Choral Scholar Showcase - Free Concert

Friday 29th May
7:30pm
Free Concert

In this free concert we celebrate the contribution of our four fantastic choral scholars, who have been singing alongside the professionals of St Cuthbert’s choir this year. They will serenade us with solo pieces by Mozart, , Handel, Purcell, and Catalani, and our departing organ scholar, Elliot Randall, will play a piece by Howells. Alongside these solo items, the choir will join together in singing Handel’s Coronation Anthems, four pieces written for the coronation of George II in 1727 including the famous piece Zadok the Priest.

The concert is also the launch for our Music Appeal, raising money to sustain the choral scholarship programme and renovate the organ, so that we can continue to enjoy a world-class choir in the future. Join us for a glass of wine afterwards to learn more about our plans, and to wish the choral scholars every success with their future careers!

The Community of Sant'Egidio in London is part of a worldwide movement that began in Rome in 1968, born out of a desire to change the world by befriending people who live on the margins of society. In London, Sant’Egidio shares food and friendship with homeless, older people and anyone who is struggling. We partner with St Cuthbert’s every month to host Our Cup of Tea, a meal for the elderly and homeless featuring fresh, home-cooked and upcycled food. We strive to create a family environment, with entertainment, birthday celebrations and joyful company that is free for anyone who walks through the doors.
